Just like any other month, in November Vojvodina offers many different events. Preparations for traditional celebrations, such as saints’ days and New Year’s parties are underway, and light warming up for December will be marked by specific gastronomic gatherings and tastings. Birds are greeted with joy on the chimneys of Vojvodina houses and on the street light poles. Two species, owls and cranes, especially attract attention in November. One of the gastronomic events that Vojvodina is known for, is the Novi Sad Festival of Sausages, Pork Rinds, Liver Sausage and Black Pudding. Futog is rightly referred to by many as the “cabbage capital” because, as cabbage has made Futog known far beyond the borders of the country. During the Kupusijada (Cabbage Fest) in Futog, a meeting of producers of traditional products of Serbia is organized to promote traditional production, to point out the importance of preserving old crafts and to revive the once famous Futog Fair. The Čvarak fest (Porkrind Fest) in Kac, the Sarmijada (festival dedicated to traditional stuffed cabbage leaf rolls – sarma) in Backa Topola and Backi Monostor, the Pasuljijada (Beans Fest) in Backa Palanka and Kajganijada (Scrambled Eggs Fest) in Sombor will satisfy even the most discerning gourmandes. For the sixth time in a row, in Titel, in the Congress Hall of the Tisa Hotel, an event called “The Night of Young Wine, Brandy, and Liqueur” is organized. The Festival of Young Brandy with a rich program is also traditionally held in Ljutovo. Kikinda is the largest wintering place of the long-eared owls on the planet. Science and entertainment programs are organized every November, with the aim of getting to know this mysterious bird that has chosen Kikinda as its habitat. In addition, every year, at the end of autumn, thousands of cranes gather, on their migratory route from northern Europe to Africa, at the Salt Kopovo Special Reserve in Novi Bečej, where they spend several months. This exquisite natural phenomenon deserves special attention and it should not go unnoticed.
