FRUSKA GORA WINE WALK JUSTIFIED EXPECTATIONS

The second Fruška Gora wine walk “Fruška Walk & Wine 2024“, was successfully realized on June 9 in Irig. The official opening of this event was held at the main square in Irig, with the presence of numerous media. Director of the Tourism Organization of Vojvodina, Nataša Pavlović Phd, Nenad Ivanišević PhD, Provincial Secretary for Economy and Tourism, and President of the Municipality of Irig Tihomir Stojaković addressed those present.

At the starting point of the wine walk, the main square (Ribarski trg), the participants were welcomed by pudarka, a keeper of the vineyard, with pudarka equipment and the winemaker’s breakfast, portraying the atmosphere of the past and the traditional customs from the past of this region. After picking up the starter package at the Welcome Desk, the participants headed through the urban part of Irig, passing through the charming streets of the picturesque Srem settlement, which bear witness to the rich history of this place. What followed was an unforgettable journey through the magical vineyards of the Fruška Gora, enriched with the tastes of top wines and authentic gastronomic products of this region. Accompanied by professional guides, walkers enjoyed the enchanting beauty of the Fruška Gora, spectacular views of the surrounding hills and the idyllic atmosphere of the Fruška Gora vineyards. In addition to enjoying nature, the participants tasted different types of wine from 18 Fruška Gora wineries at a total of 6 stations along the 7.6-kilometer long trail, accompanied by a suitable musical program. Each glass was an opportunity for new discoveries and enjoyment of the variety of tastes and aromas offered by the wines of this terroir.

The circular route of the Fruška Gora Wine Walk ended again at the main square in Irig, where walkers had the opportunity to buy the wines they tasted during the walk, as well as homemade products, at the stand of the Association of Women from Irig. The square was also the venue for two tambura music concerts, i.e. the place where the attendees enjoyed the sounds of the tambura orchestra “From Bach to Sevdah” and the women’s tambura orchestra “La Banda”. At the end of the wine walk, a photo booth was available for walkers, giving them the opportunity to capture unforgettable moments. The event was concluded with festive fireworks in the evening.

This unique event brought together over 350 participants from the country and the region. The Fruška Gora Wine Walk “Fruška Walk & Wine” is not only a wine adventure, but also a journey through history, culture and nature. The visitors left this event, enriched with new knowledge and unforgettable memories, with the desire to return again and discover the other charms of this beautiful region.

The organizer of the event is the Tourism Organization of Vojvodina, with the support of the Provincial Government, the Municipality of Irig, the Association of Producers of Grapes and Wines with Geographical Origin “Srem-Fruška Gora”, the Guarantee Fund of AP Vojvodina, the Development Fund of Vojvodina, the National Park of Fruška gora and the Wine Capital.
