First Transnational Networking and Expert Meeting within the “ROMAN LEGACY” Project

The Tourism Organisation of Vojvodina participated as a stakeholder in the First Transnational Networking and Expert Meeting held on 23–24 April 2026 in Novi Sad within the framework of the “ROMAN LEGACY – Roman Heritage” project. The meeting took place at the Science and Technology Park, and the hosts of the event were the Provincial Secretariat for Regional Development, Interregional Cooperation and Local Self-Government and the Faculty of Technical Sciences.

During the meeting, the “Roman Heritage” project was presented, along with the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe, a best practice example – insights into the Iron-Age-Danube Route, as well as presentations of a mobile application and the branding concept. Two exchange workshops were also held, during which participants had the opportunity to contribute through discussions and the exchange of experiences.

Throughout the two-day programme, representatives of the Tourism Organisation of Vojvodina participated in workshops, presentations and exchange sessions dedicated to the development of cultural routes, destination branding and contemporary approaches to the interpretation of cultural heritage. Special emphasis was placed on knowledge exchange and networking with representatives of institutions, organizations and experts from several European countries. As part of the programme, a study visit to Sremska Mitrovica and the archaeological site of ancient Sirmium, one of the most significant Roman sites in the region, was also organized.

Participation in this event contributed to strengthening cooperation with international partners, exchanging good practices in the field of cultural tourism, and acquiring new knowledge important for the further development and promotion of the Roman and cultural heritage of Vojvodina within international tourism initiatives.
