CHURCH OF ST. NICHOLAS – Ruma

With the great possibility we can assume that Ruma had the church since very long ago, because in 1566, among the citizens are rumors about three priests. The church certainly was the following one of today’s St. Nicholas church. This wooden church, with the church yard and unfenced graveyard was first mentioned in 1731, 1750, and 1751. under the name of St. Nicolas. Soon it became too small so the people started building the new one of strong material, which was finished in 1758. The iconostasis were painted by Petar i Pavle Čortonovački.
