Carda (Tavern) “Sebesfok” tells the most beautiful story about the abundance and beauty of fish in the vicinity of Bezdan village near Sombor. This is the place of emergence of three canals that stretch across Backa plain – Great Backa Canal, Bajski Canal, and Danube-Tisza-Danube Canal. The Danube is the main source of water for all of them.
Besides the canals, there are few branches of the Danube and an alluring lake in the vicinity of Carda. Carda is situated at the roadside from Bezdan to the Danube, on the bank of the Great Backa Canal. This area is known as “Sebesfok”, which means fast whirlpool in the Hungarian language.
The banks in this region promise to fulfill all fishermen’s hopes. The main characteristics of this Carda are tamburitza music and fish specialties. The most required meal is a fish stew with memorable homemade noodles. Fried fish is best prepared on harrow (a type of grill) and it is served in the same dish in which is grilled. The guests from various regions visit Carda. It is famous for kayak regattas and its beautiful raft, which is not common in this area.
Since recently, Carda has been providing accommodation in three double bungalows and three single rooms. There is an Ecological Workshop “Baracka” in the vicinity of Carda, which represents a unique training place where the pupils and scouts learn how to live in nature. Carda has a capacity of 200 seats disposed of in a hall, on a terrace, and the raft. Tamburitza band plays regularly. There is also a car park for 30 vehicles and moorings for boats.
