“BISERNO OSRTVO” CASTLE – Bačko Gradište

“BISERNO OSRTVO” CASTLE – Bačko Gradište

When you leave Bačko Gradište and cross the bridge over the Tisa River, follow the paved road until, after the vineyard on the left, you see the first building — the Biserno Ostrvo Castle.

The castle on Biserno Ostrvo (Pearl Island) was built by Baron Gedeon Rohonczi at the end of the 19th century. It is situated in the natural surroundings of a river branch, known as the “dead Tisa,” which is suitable for growing grapevines. The finest Krokan wine comes from this area.

Today, the castle is in poor condition, but it has entered private ownership, so renovation is expected. The castle is a registered cultural property.

The castle is not open to visitors!
