The Fourth Fruška Walk & Wine Brought Together Participants from Serbia and Abroad

On 26 September, Sremski Karlovci hosted the fourth edition of the Fruškogorska Vinska Šetnja – “FRUŠKA WALK & WINE 2026”, an event that has been bringing together an increasing number of wine, nature and cultural heritage enthusiasts year after year. This year’s walk attracted participants from Serbia as well as a large number of international visitors, who had the opportunity to discover Sremski Karlovci and Fruška Gora through their vineyards, wines and stories of the region’s winemaking tradition.

The event was officially opened by Dr Nenad Ivanišević, Provincial Secretary for Economy and Tourism, who pointed out that, ahead of World Tourism Day, there could be no better place or event to authentically and genuinely demonstrate what tourism is all about.

The opening ceremony was also addressed by Dražen Đurđić, President of the Municipality of Sremski Karlovci, and Milivoj Kovačević, Acting Director of the Tourism Organisation of Vojvodina, who highlighted that in just a few years, the Fruškogorska Vinska Šetnja has grown into a distinctive event that brings together wine, nature, tradition and hospitality in a unique way.

“We have brought together wine, nature, tradition and hospitality, as well as what is most important for any destination – the people whose knowledge, work and energy create an experience to remember,” said Kovačević, stressing that events such as this contribute to creating high-quality tourism experiences and encourage visitors to discover a destination, return to it and share their experiences with others.

The route connected some of the most beautiful parts of Sremski Karlovci, including its Baroque town centre, the Court Garden and the vineyards of the Sremski Karlovci wine-growing area. At six tasting points, a total of 18 wineries were presented, giving participants the opportunity to taste a variety of wines and meet the people whose work helps preserve and develop the winemaking tradition of the region. A special touch was added by actors at two locations along the route, where short performances brought to life stories and the spirit of Sremski Karlovci.

A rich music programme at each of the tasting points added to the atmosphere throughout the walk. Music, the landscapes of Fruška Gora, encounters with winemakers and the theatrical performances made the route much more than an ordinary walk – it offered a unique opportunity to discover and experience Sremski Karlovci and its winemaking tradition from a different perspective.

At the end of the walk, participants had the opportunity to purchase the wines they had tasted during the day and particularly enjoyed at the wine shop in the centre of Sremski Karlovci.

The fourth edition of the Fruškogorska Vinska Šetnja once again demonstrated the importance of authentic experiences, people and stories rooted in tradition in developing a destination’s tourism offer.

The event was organised by the Tourism Organisation of Vojvodina, in cooperation with the Association of Grape and Wine Producers with the Geographical Indication “Srem – Fruška Gora”, with the support of the Ministry of Tourism and Youth, the Provincial Government, the Municipality of Sremski Karlovci and the Tourism Organisation of the Municipality of Sremski Karlovci.
