AUTUMN IN SOMBOR

AUTUMN IN SOMBOR

Get out of the warmth of your home, enjoy October, the month of autumn colors, and spend the weekend visiting the greenest city in Serbia. In the northwest of the Bačka region, 100 km from Novi Sad, lies Sombor, a modern city with rich cultural heritage, which cherishes the beauty of the past. Known as a place where many artists found peace, as the home of hackberry and old carriages, Sombor exudes a special energy that is recognized every year by a large number of mostly domestic tourists. Create a route for your ideal trip and get to know the history of this area. The city museum will bring you closer to the city and open the door to further discovery, which you can continue at the Gallery of Milan Konjović, the most famous Sombor painter. On the way to the County Building, where you must not miss the largest oil painting in this part of Europe, the famous painting “The Battle of Senta”, you will pass by the City Hall, the house where Laza Kostić lived, the Serbian Reading Room, the City Library… Satisfy your gastronomic desires and senses and take a short break in one of the numerous cafes, restaurants, pubs, farms, preserved folk houses or chardas, and for wine lovers there are several wineries available. Check out the calendar of events, choose one of the many to visit and thus complete your trip and experience. If one-day stay seems insufficient, you can stay in one of the two hotels, or opt for a guesthouse or an apartment and start a new day by visiting the surrounding places that definitely have something to offer, such as Bezdan, Bački Monoštor, Čonoplja, Stapar. Apart from the greenery in the city, the Upper Danube Basin Special Nature Reserve is also worth mentioning.

You can see more about of what Sombor has to offer on the website of the Tourism Organization of Sombor.
