GATHERING OF VOJVODA STOJAN ČUPIĆ – Sremska Mitrovica

The Gathering of Vojvoda Stojan Čupić is a traditional event dedicated to preserving old customs and traditions. The programme includes Mačva-style traditional gatherings known as prela and posela; culinary competitions featuring traditional Mačva dishes; artists’ camps and exhibitions of works by painters from Mačva and other regions; traditional knightly games, including tug-of-war with a stick, standing long jump, stone throwing, log wrestling, log jumping and other disciplines; as well as the election of the Mačva Vojvoda, who serves a one-year term and is presented with a sabre as a prize.

The programme also includes the Vojvoda’s gathering, featuring a variety of cultural and artistic performances, recitals, toasts, choral compositions, and folklore performances by groups and cultural societies from Mačva and other regions.

The event is held on the first Sunday in September, from 4 p.m. 8 p.m.
