MONASTERY “PRIVINA GLAVA” – SELO PRIVINA GLAVA

According to the legend, Privina Glava with the church dedicated to arhistratizima Michael and Gabriel was founded by a man named Priba (Priva), in the 12th century.
According to another more acceptable to tradition it was founded by the Srem despots in the late 15th century. The earliest historical records about the monastery are dated in 1566/1567. At the site of the old one , between 1741 and 1760 the current church was built, modeled on the Temple of the New Hopovo. Lodgings were built between 1753 and 1771, and the monastery got its present shape in the second half of the 19th century. The icons on the iconostasis, thrones and murals in the central part of the church were built in 1786/91 by Kuzman Kolarić.
