LIBRARY ”ŠTEFAN HOMOLA”- Bački Petrovac

The establishment of the Slovak library in 1845 was associated with the work of the church Sunday school in Bački Petrovac, which was led by Štefan Homola. The Library was the first public institution of its kind in this region inhabited by Slovaks. At the beginning it had 130 books and today about 40,000 titles, out of which the county collection of Vojvodina Slovaks contains over 5,000 books and periodicals in Slovak and a collection of old and rare books containing over 2,000 books. The oldest book dates from 1690.
