BEER MUSEUM – Čelarevo
Početna / Experiences / BEER MUSEUM – Čelarevo
Within the grounds of its brewery in Čelarevo, Carlsberg Serbia opened the first authentic beer museum in the region on October 22, 2008. The museum was inaugurated by the then director of Carlsberg Serbia, in the presence of some members of the Dunđerski family. The idea and initiative for establishing the beer museum came directly from the Carlsberg headquarters in Copenhagen, where the old brewery houses a visitor center in which curious guests can experience, through images, exhibits, and stories, how Carlsberg evolved from a small brewing workshop into the global producer it is today.
A special significance in the history of the brewery is held by its founder, the renowned philanthropist and large landowner Lazar Dunđerski, to whom the museum is also dedicated. The museum represents a blend of traditional and modern heritage, allowing visitors to learn in detail about the old methods of brewing, storing, and distributing beverages made from hops and barley. A special section of the museum features hospitality equipment used over 100 years ago, as well as documents, letters, and photographs from the first decades of the brewery’s existence. The museum houses over 400 exhibits, all related to brewing, with particular emphasis on the brewery in then-Čeb, built in 1892 by Lazar Dunđerski on part of his estate.
In the central part of the museum, modern company brands are also displayed, ranging from Lav, Tuborg, Carlsberg, Holsten, to imported beers such as the Czech Budweiser Budvar, Irish Kilkenny, and Guinness.
