The Folklore Festival “Tancuj, tancuj…” is the largest cultural event of the Slovak community in the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina – Republic of Serbia. It originated from the activities of the Cultural and Educational Society “Jednota” and the Local Community of Gložan. The first festival was held on April 5, 1970, in Gložan.
The aim of the festival is to contribute to the preservation and promotion of Slovak folklore (dance, songs, music, and customs). It brings together folklore ensembles from all areas where the Slovak national community lives in AP Vojvodina, Serbia, with nearly 1,500 participants. In addition, guest ensembles from Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Croatia, and the Czech Republic also take part.
Renowned ensembles presenting the folklore of the majority population and other national communities from the region regularly participate as well, contributing to the development of multiculturalism in this area. The main program consists of three concerts (two concerts of folklore groups and one concert of vocal groups and orchestras). Festival performances are held in an amphitheater with a capacity of more than 2,500 spectators, located within the educational, sports, cultural, and tourism center in Gložan, as well as in the Cultural Center hall in Gložan.
Supporting events of the festival include ethnographic exhibitions, art exhibitions, presentations of traditional Slovak cuisine, and traditional crafts.
