During the time of the Empress Terezija there was found the Rectory in Margita, according to some people in 1750., and according to others earlier in 1715. The wooden church was built in 1742., and was made of sticks and shingle. All the icons whish are today in the church are from this first one and all are Serbian according to Erdeljanović. The Serbian church was built in 1810.

The new church which exists even today was built since 1833 – 1836., during the Patriarch Josif Rajačić and Stefan Stratimirović, and during the rule of the Emperor Ferdinand I, as it is said in the chronicle of the Serbian orthodox rectory in Margita, where exists the evidence in charter added to this chronicle written in Old – Slovenic language which says:”With the God`s help and by His will we bless this temple with the coming down of Holy Trinity – through the truthful Mr. Josip Rajačić, orthodox episcope of Vršac, Karansebeg and Lugoš, and during the time of the Emperor and the King Ferdinand I”.

The St. temple is dedicated to the Holy Trinity.

That temple had three bells, two were taken by the Austrians during the war in 1915. In 1938. two new bells were brought which were blessed on May, 29th of the same year which exist even today. They were poured in a workshop “Predrag Jovanović” in Novi Sad. This temple was used both by the Serbs and Romanians till1899., when Serbs bought it from the Romanians. The Romanians built a new one in 1899.

In the church there are the registers of born and dead people since 1792., and married since 1824, since the protocols of born, dead and married are on Romanian language.
