According to the written documents of Franc Šams, the military cahpel, in the Casemate, existed in the second part of the XVIII century. The permission for it was asked by mitropolit Pavle Nenadović. It was part of the military hospital, towards the Belgrade gate, and at the end of XIX century it was placed on the opposite side (in the rampart which goes to Danube). It was mentioned in 1892., and in 1895. It was officially sanctified and dedicated to the Serbian St. Mother Angelina(ex despot Branković). The first military priest of this church (since 1894.) was Krušedol monk and deputy German Bošković.
After the United in 1918. as the part of the Military hospital, was opened bigger military church. The building of the previous electricity central was restored in 1922, and in 1927., shaped in the church. The King Aleksandar Karađorđević gave church the bell made in Kragujevac. It was sanctified by Patriarch Dimitrije Pavlović, and is dedicated to the St. Entry. The iconostasis was made by Vasa Eškićević (1867.-1933.), born in Irig, the painter of the First Serbian Army (the student of Russian painter Rjepin).The church has worked since 1941., and after the liberation until 1990. there was the warehouse for medicines. The military gave back the church to the Srem eparchy in 1990., and on the day of the St. Martyr Ignjatije in 1991., the church was sanctified and dedicated to St. Apostle Paul.
