At the beginning of the 20th century by the development of industry and trade in Debeljača and the influx of a large number of the Orthodox population the need for the construction of Orthodox church arose. Serbian Orthodox Church in Debeljača is the youngest Serbian Orthodox Church in the area of Kovačica. The church was built in 1934 according to the model of the church in Oplenac. Construction and interior decoration was run by an engineer Viktor Turbin. Construction was completed in 1935 and the church was consecrated at the same time. The walls are decorated with 41 icons and richly decorated book of prayer. In the church The Gospel has been proudly taken good care of, a gift that originates from the Imperial Russia. The patron Saint`s day is on the day of the Transfiguration of Christ on August 19th.
