Separating the theatre’s section of historical part of Vojvodinian Museum in 1982, for the 120th anniversary of founding of the oldest theatre, The Serbian National Theatre, The theatre’s museum of Vojvodina was found.
The museum is divided into three sections for the theatrical history: the period before the First World War, the period between the wars and period after the Second World War. Today it owns 60.000 objects- manuscripts, drama works, photographs, posters, correspondence, programs, work of arts, models, scenography and costumography sketches, bibliographic sketches, personal objects of theater makers and many other subjects.
Because they were left out of space the museum doesn’t have it’s permanent exhibition, except the small parts at the permanent exhibition of the museum of Vojvodina, which illustrates the historical development of the theatre art until XX century. In the long term plan, there is wish to move the objects and creating the exposition of permanent character. “The Almanac of the theatres of Vojvodina” is regular publication of documentary character, which museum publishes from 1966. for every season of the professional theatres in Vojvodina.
