The monastery is situated on southern slopes of western part of Fruška Ggore, nearby the village of the same name. The monastery church is dedicated to the Feast of Nativity of the Virgin. According to old manuscripts, the founding of the monastery is attributed to a prior of the Monastery Žiča, Teofan and to refuge monks of Žiča, who brought down the church in 1520 and on its place built a new temple. The reliable information about the monastery date from 16th century. Then the relics of St. Stefan Štiljanović, the despot of Srem, were brought to the monastery. In 1788, the old two-dome church was brought down, and on its place the present temple was built. Trilateral buildings of the shelters were built at the end of 18th century and beginning of 19th century. The iconostasis and the wall paintings in the church were done by Grigorije Davidović Obšić between 1793 and 1795. The monastery was devastated during the World War II. Nowadays the monastery complex is consisted of the rebuilt church and one building of the newly built shelter, south-east from the church.
