The Provinces Institute for Protection of Nature is a scientific institution which performs the activities of protection of nature and natural goods on the territory of AP Vojvodina.
The Provinces Institute for Protection of Nature (The Institute, in the rest of the text) was established by the decision of The Province Parliament to establish The Provinces Institute for Protection of Nature („gazette APV“, number 2/2010). The Provinces Institute for Protection of Nature was established for the first time in 1966, and starting from 1992 it was part of The Institute for Protection of Nature in Serbia, as a section or a working unit in Novi Sad. On 1st April 2010 it became The Provinces Institute for Protection of Nature again. This is how a continuity of 45 years has been established in the field of protection of nature in APV.
On 800 m2 there is a permanent natural exhibition, which represents the richness of biological and geological diversity of our country. During each year different thematic exhibitions take turns.
The natural exhibition is dominated by the scull with tusks of woolly mammoth (Mammuthus primigenius), excavated from the riverbed of the Tisa River near Novi Bečej in 1947. The oldest exhibit is presented with two examples of Griffon Vulture (Gups fulvus) from “Obetska Bara“dating from 1910.
