This year’s Tamburitza Fest 2021, in its 14th edition, from August 19 to 21 in the center of Novi Sad and at the Petrovaradin Fortress, will traditionally gather a large number of domestic and foreign masters of plectrum and wire. At the officially best ethno music festival in Europe and the best tourist event in Serbia, six orchestras from Serbia, the USA, Croatia, Slovenia, Hungary and Romania will perform in the competitive part of the program, and the audience will, as in previous years, have the opportunity to enjoy solo concerts by artists from the country and the region on each of the three festival evenings. The organizers of the event, which nurtures all types of artistic expression, confirm that the introductory festival evening, on August 19, will begin with a tamburitza promenade, riding carriages “adorned” with performers on tamburitza along the Novi Sad boulevards, all the way to the central city streets and the main square (Trg slobode). In the center of the city, folklore dance and tamburitza ensembles of cultural and artistic societies will be performing, and there will be a unique walk in which tamburitza players with fans of the melancholy tunes will tour the historical sights of Novi Sad. The remaining two evenings with a substantive and rich program will be held in Petrovaradin, the planetary center of tamburitza, where virtuosos of fine strings will compete for the prestigious trophy of the best tamburitza band, but also the title of best orchestra lead, double bass player, vocal soloist, bass lead… Also as a part of the festival at the Petrovaradin Fortress, a whole series of famous tamburitza orchestras will be performing followed by popular performers with full length shows.
