Shortly after the arrival of the Slovaks to this area in 1802, in the center of Kovačica the Evangelical Church was erected. However, the construction of the present church began in 1824 and it was completed and consecrated in 1828.The church was designed by architects Suday and Kunz from Timisoara.

The church is 42 m long and 18 m wide. It was built in the late Baroque style. Its interior is enriched with a monumental altar with a painting of Konstantine Danilo. This painting is the only work of art of Konstantin Danilo that was commissioned for non-Orthodox churches and it presents Jesus in Gethsemane garden with an angel. This extraordinary art-work is protected by the state and restoration is forthcoming. The clock and organ in the church date from 1915, while all three today's bells, date from 1848.

The Church organizes events, such as the Yugoslav Evangelists reunion gathering about 700 young people from various who socialize and participate in church choirs singing performances.

The Slovak Evangelical temple in Kovačica, except ministering, performs numerous concerts of classical music and the temple serves as a concert hall with excellent acoustics features especially for choral singing, which could be used as a special attraction for tourists.
