In the historical and cultural sense, Nova Crnja has a rich and long tradition. Radojevo and Srpska Crnja are, for the first time, mentioned in the written documents in the 14th century. Culturally, ethnically and confessionally Nova Crnja is a heterogeneous environment which is the result of numerous migrations and settlements during history.
Nova Crnja has outstanding natural resources (Koštanac hunting ground is one of the oldest in the area, woodland in the Vojvoda Stepa area dates back to the 18th century, thermal spas in Srpska Crnja), as well as cultural and historical monuments (a house where famous poet
Đura Jakšić was born which is now a museum, the Kaštel Castle, the church of St. Prokopije, houses in Srpska Crnja where Draga Gavrilović, Aleksandar Zarin and Momčilo Milankov were born, then the St. Nicholas church in Radojevo, St. Agota church in Nova Crnja, etc.).
All the above mentioned represents the excellent potential for the development of hunting, spa, cultural, and transit tourism. Đura Jakšić, the famous poet and painter, was born in Srpska Crnja. For almost 40 years s a cultural event called
Liparske večeri – Đurini dani is being held in his honor.
