The municipality of Bački Petrovac is situated in the south Bačka and covers the area of 158 km2. It is situated between the communities Novi Sad, Bačka Palanka, Vrbas, and Beočin in Srem.

The Danube river divides it from Srem. There are these settlements in the municipality: Bački Petrovac, Gložan, Maglić, and Kulpin. The settlement Petrovac owns part of the navigable channel Dunav – Tisa – Dunav.

All the settlements in this municipality are connected with the asphalt roads on a distance of 4 to 10 km. The local road system of the community Bački Petrovac is connected to the most important roads, the regional highway R – 102 to Hungary, on highway E -75 Subotica – Novi Sad – Belgrade.

The community of Bački Petrovac is one of the smallest municipalities when the population is concerned, and according to the register in 2018. there are 12.772 inhabitants.

The main characteristic of this community is multi-nationality. In Bački Petrovac and Gložan live Slovaks, in Kulpin Slovaks and Serbs while Maglić is completely Serb settlement.
